Aim of the International Memorial Programme „Following Saint Ladislaus’ Footsteps” is to create high-level diplomatic and inter-university forum for catholic cultural education and Hungarian nation policy in the frames of Memorial Year of Saint King Ladislaus 2017, representing Central-European historical memory of the Holy Knight King and outlining modern possibilities of Central-European cooperation.
The programme is supported by Society „Pro Patria” and accomplished by Foundation for Central-European Studies. Implementer of the programme deployed it at Institute for Historical Studies of Catholic Uniersity „Pázmány Péter”. An international conference and memorial tour was organized in the period of 8–12. October 2017 with assistance of the Catholic Church of Poland, the State Secretariat for National Policy of Hungary, the Polish Sejm, the Catholic University „Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński”, the Embassy of Hungary in Warszawa, the General Consulate of Hungary in Kraków and many scholars, artists and students of the Catholic Universities „Pázmány” and „Wyszyński”, also the Jagiellonian University of Kraków.
Hungarian delegacy attended sollemn inauguration ceremony of Wyszyński University at Warszawa, after which a meeting of leaders of the universities and supporters of the programme took place at the Institute for Historical Studies at Wyszyński University, analysing the future forms of cooperation among our instututes. Hungarian delegation visited the Warszawa Uprising Museum and national shrine of Poland Czestochowa. A mini conference was held at the General Consulate of Hungary in Kraków with honourable patronage of Dr. Adrienne Körmendy, general consul of Hungary in Poland. Central event of the programme was the sollemn international conference on the 10th of October at Warszawa, with the honouring patronage of His Eminency Kazimierz Nycz, Cardinal Archbishop of Warszawa, Marek Kuchciński, Marshall of the Sejm and Her Excellency Dr. Zsuzsanna Orsolya Kovács, Ambassador of Hungary in Poland.
